I just found a salon near my work that offers threading and I’m intrigued by it. I’m a compulsive eyebrow plucker but have been letting them grow in order to have them waxed a week before the wedding. I also have a lot of peach fuzz on my face, cheeks, and upper lip (all very light colored hair) that I’ve been debating doing something with before the wedding. I’ve had my entire face waxed before but I broke out terribly and had little bumps for weeks. I only did that once and vowed to never do it again.
Anyone have experience with threading? Does it really last 6 weeks? Anyone had it done in places other than the eyebrows? How were those results?

I’ve never had it done so I can’t vouch for how it feels, however I watch the little ladies in the mall do it because it is so fascinating. They swear it lasts six weeks and they do their own eyebrows and upper lips. They would do it rght there in front of the mirror and I never saw any redness at all. It just goes so fast, I had to stare haha. (I used to work in the mall) and had a lot of time to kill.

I have had my eyebrows done but that’s all.. and it didnt hurt, in fact, tweezing to me hurts worse. Didnt last me 6 weeks tho, but that may just be me, bc leg waxing only last me 3 weeks. ;-( I want my upper lip done by threading, but i usually get it waxed..

I had it done once at a local mall. I results were great! I can’t remember how long it lasted, but I remember not having to pluck my eyebrows for a long time. My mom has had it done on her chin and upper lip. She loves it! I think if you were to go a week or 2 before the wedding, you should be ok. Just make sure you explain exactly what you want. I told the woman who did mine that I didn’t want my eyebrows to look pencil thin, to keep them the shape and thickness they are, but just clean everything up.

I agree with Penny. I’ve had it done and like it so much better than waxing or tweezing. It didn’t hurt at all, but I still had puffy eyebrows for a couple of hours.

HAHHA! This brought me back to the first and LAST time I tried threading.
I’ve been waxing since I was like 13 years old; I’m Scandanavian lol. But threading is like TORTURE to me!
My cousin (cosmetologist) recommended it for me and knew a girl that would do it for me and was really “great”. Well they get me into the chair, we start and before I know it my right knee is in this lady’s throat! LOL! I wanted to DIE! Mind you I was getting my face and hairline done.
I see how it can be more effective and maybe last a bit longer, but DEAR GOD, it was just not something I could consistently not focus on. I’d rather get piecered or tattoo or waxed any day! So I’m sticking to waxing. But remember all our pain tolerances are different, definitely worth the experience to see if its for you!

I get my eyebrows threaded & I love it! Its less painful then waxing & plus they always look very nicely shaped.
My friend has her upper lip done in addition to the brows & I’ve been there when girls get their entire face done – and it is more painful then just the brows (esp the upper lip since its sensative) but my friend has never broke out, only a bit of reddness for an hour after they where done.

I only thread my eyebrows now, no waxing or plucking anymore. The place I go to does an amazing job shaping my eyebrows, they really just remove the stray hairs and don’t go overboard. My mom also does her upper lip and loves it.
Personally, I would go now so that in case you don’t like it there is at least a bit of time for them to grow back. Mine grow back fairly fast and I can see the little ones growing in so I would want to do it 2 weeks before because they would need to be re-done for me by then.

I get mine threaded on a regular basis. It is much less painful than wax and my brows look amazing! The lady I go to is a miracle worker–I thought my brows looked good before but she has shaped them to look amazing! She threads other areas besides eyebrows and none of it is really painful. There are also no bumps or irritation afterwards, and since it is not taking off some of your upper layer of skin there is less risk of infections. I reccommend it!

I had my eyebrows threaded once and I’ve never had the guts to go back! it hurt SOOO much!
I guess it must be different for different people, but for me it KILLED!

I think threading is ALOT more uncomfortable. You can FEEL the hair being pulled out more so than in waxing (b/c waxing its quick). I will say though that they can be more precise with threading, and my skin doesn’t puff and red. Either way though I think its a personal choice. I’ve found that neither is EXTREMELY better than the other.

I feel like above.. sorry I don’t know how to tag.. I felt like I could feel each hair ripping out.. and then it would get all over my face. And I was tearing bad…
Waxing only for me for a little while.

I’ve had eyebrows and full face done. PAINFUL!! but worth it.
Not to be rude but go to an Indian salon. They are the best and know what they are doing! It really feels like a razor is scraping your face but afterwards your skin is silky smooth. The hairs don’t grow back stubbly and if you have a fuzzy face would be something nice for your wedding. I have bad reactions to most waxing but threading had zero reaction from me. Go try it out!
