I’ve never posted on Bee before but have followed boards for a while, thought I’d post my potential dress regret issue here so i can get some honest feedback without personal friends worrying about hurting my feelings.
For cultural reasons, I will be having three dresses for our wedding, which is a full day event from the early hours of dawn right til midnight or past if we decide to have an afterparty. So far, I’ve put a 80% deposit down on the third (end of night) dress, which was initially meant to be a “more comfy” evening gown, one to dance in. (The first dress is an A-line/Ballgown-esque white bridal dress and the second is a traditional Chinese outfit that will allow little room for eating (!)). For some reason, instead of a silky slick evening gown I had decided on, I went to a gown boutique and custom designed a dress that’s bejeweled to high heavens. I had my first fitting last week – friends and family love it but on another day I walked past a boutique and saw a dress I also love – silk, easy-to-wear but also classy and dancing-friendly, can’t help but feel i should have kept it as i first thought – What do you fellow bees think?
First couple of pictures is the dress I had made and the second is an example of what I initially thought of having.

Is that grey? If so it’s absolutely beautiful. I love everything about that dress and you look great in it. Compliments your curves tastefully. The red dress is nice definitely different from the first. Not really my style but maybe it’s just the color. What about black?

First dress is amazing!! The red one is pretty too but certainly not the showstopper the second one is.

The grey dress is to die for! The red one is pretty, but I think the belt makes it look less couture than the first one. Just my opinion. 🙂

First one is amazing!!! You look stunning in that dress! The red one is pretty but not wow. You should always feel and look wow on you wedding day! You can wear the red dress to another function anytime. The grey/lavender dress isn’t a dress you can easily find an occasion to wear it to…..so it should be used for your wedding!!!!

The dress you had made is stunning! It looks amazing on you, too, so I would definitely stick with it for the end of the night!!

That first dress is absolutely gorgeous on you. TBH, I’m not too crazy about the neckline on the red gown or the belt.

The first dress is so stunning and you look gorgeous in it

Your gown is beautiful – you look amazing. The red one is nice but just not special enough. You made the right choice!

the first dress is amazing! I absolutely love it. Can you dance easily or does the back need to be bustled or something? Maybe they can alter it a bit so it’s easier to move in while preserving the style, because it really is gorgeous.
The second dress is nice, but I agree that the belt makes it look a little bit more, I don’t know, average? I like it, but it doesn’t have the same impact as the first.

The grey/ platinum….. I die! That is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen.

Definitely the glittery one! That is such a wonderful dress!

the first ones amazing… the second is standard and you could wear to any event (even as a guest to another wedding)
I think the first one is a clear winner for wow factor
