Hey everyone, my FH was having trouble deciding which of his groomsmen should be his Best Man. His best friend was the first contender, until he mucked us around late last year, which ended with us forking out thousands of ££ for his inconsiderate and selfish actions (a very long story!). My FH still wants him as a groomsman, but is hesitant to make him Best Man – and doesn’t want to hurt his feelings by making one of the other Groomsmen Best Man.
I suggested he has no Best Man at all, and just have his three Groomsmen. Has anyone else done this?
What duties does the Best Man perform anyway? Apart from maybe holding the rings? Can we easily split these duties up between all Groomsmen?
Would love to hear your opinions.

I am having 3 bridesmaids, no Maid/Matron of Honor, and my Fiance is having 3 groomsmen (one of which is a girl), no best man, as we could not decide either. I think you can do whatever you want to do!

Brilliant a girl for a Groomsman!

Darling Husband went the other direction… he had two co-best men and one groomsman. I had a Maid/Matron of Honor and two bridesmaids.
The role of the best man is to plan the bachelor party, as I understand it, and hold the rings during the ceremony. Oh, and give a toast. Also, if you do introductions in your reception, they’ll be introduced as “Best Man (whoever).”
For us, the guy closest to Darling Husband in the ceremony was de facto best man, but both co-best men planned and gave toasts.
Really, your bridal party is up to you.
