So Darling Husband and I went to see “The Wolf of Wall Street” yesterday. I thought it was going to be good because I love Martin Scorsese. God, was I dissapointed. Ladies, please read the reviews out there if you’re considering this movie…It was 3 + hours of soft core porn, debauchery and drug use. I’m not a snob by any stretch of the imagination, but c’mon…. There were graphic and disturbing images which were not in any way intrinsic to the story line and were there simply, I felt, for shock value.
Darling Husband was the one who suggested we leave before the movie was over. I was embarrassed to be sitting in a theater with others watching it!!!!!

I read that this movie has a record use of the word “fuck”. Something like once every 40 seconds. I remember this event. I’m hoping that this thieving scrum of the earth isn’t making a dime off this movie or the hype around it.

@tksjewelry: Uh, yeah… it’s just too much… I don’t think that they thought about how this movie would seem after they edited all the scenes together. It was horrible….. And I hope the guy it’s based on rots in hell.

Lol really? I saw it yesterday, and yes it was more rowdy than other movies I’ve seen, but disturbing? Come on.

@GoldfishPie: +1.
Maybe our threshold for outrage is higher.

It’s Scorsese, of course it’s going to have graphic images and debauchery. Going into one of his films, you have to be expecting that. He lives to make his viewers uncomfortable, and I’d expect nothing less than that from his films. I can’t wait to see it.

I liked it. Nothing particularly worthy of pearl clutching.

@Billsgirl: I knew when I read the title to your post that you were going to say Wolf of Wall Street. My Fiance and I felt the EXACT same way. I almost left 10 minutes into the movie and demanded my money back. DUring the movie, my Fiance asked me three times if I wanted to leave. I thought he was just asking because he thought I wanted to leave, but I told him we’d stay. Turns out, he was asking because he wanted to leave. HORRIBLE movie. I’ll be seriously pissed if this wins any sort of award at the Oscar’s.

Can I ask why people would go see a Scorsese film if you didn’t want to see swearing, drugs, and nudity?
