I have a three stone, and I see them more often than solitaires. I guess it’s because the area I come from is a pretty low-income area, so people would rather the finger coverage. My ring is considered big, and it’s a three stone 1 ctw ring. The largest ring I have seen IRL is my mom’s one carat solitaire and my aunt’s 1 carat solitaire.

alpinebride:  many of my friends who are getting married fairly young have three stones. They offer nice finger coverage without having to buy one big center stone! My ring has 3 stones but isn’t really what id consider a 3 stone, and the 2 accents stones are tiny and in little triangular frames

LittleE3:  Your ring is really pretty! Yeah, I do see many younger brides go for the “bigger” look, but achieve it by getting three stone rings. Personally, I like three stone rings better than solitaires. I just like the way they look. But, I have had one woman (in her 50’s) tell me that she doesn’t really like three stone rings, and she just got one so it would look bigger. I’m in love with my ring. I’ve had a few locals ask me if it’s real (in good humor, not a snarky way), that’s how “big” 1 ctw is in my secluded little area! 😛

alpinebride:  lol I don’t get getting a ring you don’t love just because you like the size better! My personal preference is a big size difference with a clear center stone that is the star of the show, or to have the side stones have a different shape like pears or baguttes

I was hesitant at first to go with a three stone ring because all of my friends have solitaires with thin bands.  I absolutely love my three stone ring, although I am unsure of what type of band would go well with it!

I always loved three stones, but we initially got a simple solitaire out of budget considerations. I’m really happy I had the solitaire experience, since it made me realize just how much I prefer three stones! I recently had my center stone reset, and now I am finally 100% satisfied with my ring. 🙂

AP1976:  Love that! I have the same stone configuration and ring size and also wear an eternity band. Love the blue!

I knew without a doubt I wanted a 3 stone setting. They’re classic, classy and my grandmother had one I drooled over, but didn’t inherit. So, I told my Fiance that it was the setting my heart had settled on. I ended up going for a variation of the three stone setting, and having a halo around them… take a look!

Pre-resizing, in the store, and it’s not the best quality shot, but you get the idea.
