I was going to buy Ronan some jeans at Target, they were $6. We’ve really been trying to save money lately, so I decided to go to the thrift store and see if they had baby jeans.
I got 5 pants and 2 tops for $9! Woot!
I see lots more thrift-store shopping in our future!

@abbyful: I second that. I refuse to pay full price for alot of my 4 year old clothes!! Good Job, Momma! Do you guys have a Once Upon A Child in your city?

@abbyful: I think thrift stores make so much sense for kids’ clothing given that they grow quickly and stain things easily! My baby isn’t here yet, but I’ve had fun buying some things for her at thrift and resale stores (e.g., Kid-to-Kid). It’s a cheap form of entertainment for me… much cheaper than allowing myself to go to the mall where I could do damage (thank you, Janie & Jack!). The Goodwill stores near me mark certain items half off every week, so I try to stick to those items for .65 cents each. I’ve still managed to get a lot of cute, practially new things for very little.
For example, I spent less than $2 for these 3 things:
(the flash made this one look weird…)
and for my sister’s baby:

Agreed! I LOVE thrift stores. You can also find lots of cute cardigans and tops for nursing for cheap 🙂
Such cute little clothes 🙂 Can’t wait until our baby is born so I know what to buy!!!

I totally agree. I live in Maryland and they do a Kids Consignment fair 3 times a year at 3 different locations in maryland. Check out some of the pics on their site. I have gone to 3 and every time I feel like I am “running for the babies”. haha Its kind of crazy but we have gotten some seriously good deals there on furniture, gear and clothes. I just went last week and got some super cute baby gap, childrens place, janie and jack, and gymboree clothes for the winter. http://www.totswap.net/

@MrsGrayIndy – We do have a Once Upon a Child, but it’s on the other side of town, so it’s a 45-minute drive one-way. I’ve only been there once, and that was before the baby was born. It would probably be worth it to make the drive every couple months though!
@78h2o – Adorable finds! (And what kind of dog is that? It looks part papillon, I love paps!)
@mrsmjm – Are you “team green”? We were going to have it be a surprise, but then I couldn’t wait!

I loooove second hand stores. I don’t have a child of my own, but we have a Platos Closet near by. (Same outfit as Once Upon a Child). So I can buy my Abercrombie sweaters and Hollister coats for SUPER cheap. I could care less if someone else wore them once!

We have a Platos as well but I havent checked them out yet.

I love thrift stores! I plan to get most of my maternity clothes this way.

I am a huge thrifter. One tip that took me a while to figure out when I first started is to remove any smells just add a cup of vinegar to the load of laundry. That will get any smells out. Then it is as good as new!

I almost never bought new clothes for my daughter when she was a baby and very young. We buy a bit more new clothes now (she’s almost 9) because it’s harder to find good quality things used in her size that don’t have holes/stains, but for babies? They go through it so quickly! We did lots of thrift stores, yard sales, and Ebay, and will definitely do it next time around too.

@abbyful: My dog is part papillon, as far as I know. She came from a rescue though, so I don’t know the specifics. Her shelter record said pap/chi, but I dk if that’s accurate. I think maybe pap and JRT. She is the best dog ever – super playful and athletic, but also a total lovebug!
@miss.skinner: That looks like a great event – I’m totally going to have to go to the topswap in Timonium – thanks for the link! I went to a similar WeeCycleMart http://www.wee-cyclemart.com/ sale, but I didn’t go until the 3rd day and at that point I guess most of the good stuff was gone (in terms of gear). I still got some cute Janie & Jack clothes for cheap though!
@justelope: Thanks for the tip!
