Just got a preview of my pro pics back and omg Im so in love with my dresses! I have to share!
Background: DH and I eloped after hiking a mountain last October. I went with a non traditional, light, flowy linen dress from Spell and the Gypsy Collective (easier to hike in!) that I just bought online and had hemmed at a local tailor. DH and I had a huge vow renewal and reception for all our friends and family who missed out back in August where I rewore my original dress for the vow renewal. I felt special on top of a mountain last time I wore my dress, but this time I truly felt like a fairy princess- it was amazing and the dress somehow looked so much better than at my elopement!
I was hesitant about rewearing my original dress since I didnt know if it would be formal enough or suit the setting of our party so I last minute ordered (literally a week before the date!) a bodysuit from BHLDN and a BHLDN flowy tulle skirt second hand off Poshmark. I was nervous it wouldnt fit or it would look weird, the colors wouldnt match, etc and I wouldnt have time to fix it, but it miraculously all worked out so I decided to wear it as a reception dress! I danced the night away feeling like a princess! I cant believe how perfectly it all worked out!
Share your non traditional dresses! I want to hear all your crazy dress stories!

Love it!!! And love the story. My SO and I are getting married on top of Whiteface Mountain next year. We’ve climbed it together before but this time we’ll just be driving up… though I considered doing a climb from the little summit to the true summit instead of taking an elevator just for the romance/because we love to hike together. Would be more meaningful.

Oh my goodness thats such a coincidence! Dh and I eloped on top of Ampersand Mtn in the Adirondakcs! Whiteface will be gorgeous! I think you should do the little hike 🙂 We did a big hike, but making it to the top together was the most exhilarating rush- it set the mood for the whole ceremony. It will be a gorgeous memory for you both if you do!

that sounds amazing! I know the rush you mean, it’s why we hike the high peaks. There’s no feeling like it! I think we’ll do the little hike as long as the weather cooperates (fingers crossed!)

Beautiful! And I love the Adirondacks, what a neat spot to elope ❤️

fingers crossed for you as well! It threatened rain on our elopement hike but wound up staying dry thankfully! I will say something to think about depending on what time of year you guys marry is that it was super cold and windy at the top of the mountain! I was really happy I brought a wrap!
the Adirondacks are such a unique region! We were so happy we eloped last year- it was so intimate and simple but it was also so nice to have a more typical big reception with all our friends and family around. Very different experiences that’s for sure!
thank you so much! we clean up well 🙂
thank you so much! Even though we’ve been married for nearly a year, having our renewal and reception so recently brought back all that new glow!
thanks! I loved that neither of us dressed traditionally wedding like! When DH told me he was wearing pink and white even I was skeptical! He looked amazing!
thanks! I’m so so glad both dresses worked out since I really did not spend much time on either of them! I am really happy I got the skip the typical trying on, ordering, fitting debacle and had much more instant gratification both times hahaha
