ifrench:  Awww! How wonderful and sweet to see a pic of your original ERing. Love it paired with your marquise band!

I switched from original ERing to stand-alone band after I got married. Then to an anniversary set for our 15th a couple of years ago. And then had a little “face-lift” done on my original ring for our 17th this past year. Lots of switching — ha, ha!

My original ERing: (the scroll band isn’t original)

Original stand-alone band (what my husband picked out for me):

Anniversary set:

Original ERing “facelift” (replaced the diamond baguettes with blue sapphires):

longtimemrs:  I love them all, but the stand alone band really speaks to me! I think your husband has great taste!

Olivepepper:  Thanks! Back when we were getting married and in the process of deciding what to do for our bands, I was so locked in on having a “matching set”. Honestly, I look back on it now and wonder why I was so obsessed with this idea because I really adore the “mismatched” sort of look. I think it’s because my mom’s rings are a matched set … so, somehow, it seemed like this was the “thing to do” in my mind.

Anyhow, my ERing came with a matching band, but DH and I felt that we couldn’t afford it at the time. I was really disappointed about this. So, I dithered around for quite a while, unable to find anything I liked with my ERing. And unable to decide what I even wanted. Eventually, I asked him what he thought, and he said he wanted to get me a wider, stand-alone band … but something with “something special” to it. We looked around together, and this is the one he picked. You know, I still really love it. I think it’s a timeless design.

(For what it’s worth, DH also picked out the platinum band that goes with my anniversary ring. Because I couldn’t decide what I wanted. LOL)
