I love the pictures I see of a couple walking back down the aisle with petals falling all around them – it just looks so wedding-y to me (yes, i know that’s not a word, but you get it!) I also love the look of ribbon wands. I have brought up both the my Fiance. He seems ok with petals, but thinks we can do without (of course we can). When I brought up ribbon wands he said – what are we the king and queen?? Well, um, yeah, kind of, I mean, Jewish tradition even says the the bride and groom should be treated as the king and queen of the day. Anyway, I let it go, but I can’t stop thinking about it.
And now I want both. Is is too much to have a basket full of petal cones and wands and let people take whatever they want to shake or throw during the recessional?
In my head it’s really cute, but maybe I’m on bridal overload??
What do you think, ladies?

People do bubbles all the time so why not!

i think that’s totally fun to have both! just double-check that your venue allows the petals, because some don’t want the mess or staining. if that’s the case, then ribbon wands are a great choice. another thing–i don’t think this is a big deal at all, but if you do have two choices, be prepared that there may not be “symmetry” between what people from each side of the aisle chooses. like i said, i don’t think that last part is a big deal, just pointing it out!

Our venue does not allow petals or sparklers (which is what we really wanted) and I don’t care too much for bubbles, so we decided on ribbon wands!

@mrs2thedr – I wanted sparklers too but we are getting married in a high-risk fire area (mountains of colorado) so they don’t allow them.
@misspug – we can use real petals at our venue. my flower girls is already using them. i hadn’t thought about symmetry so now i have to decide how much i care…hmmmm…
you know, if you had told me 6 months ago I would care about any of this, I would have laughed at you. man, weddings have a way of changing a girl.
