Everyone did ours, and I love the way it looks! Just be sure to get washable ink which is non-toxic. I provided little wet naps at the station, too. Don’t want the guests ruining their nice clothes! There were a few other non-traditional or newer elements in our ceremony or reception so none of them were surprised. Our bridal party explained to them what it was as guests entered the reception area.

I think that concern might be a little bit paranoid, yeah. We didn’t have that issue come up!

@Jamcnair:  I haven’t gotten married yet, but I was talking to my aunt about it and she thought it was a brilliant idea! I haven’t thought of the personal privacy factor in it, but I don’t see why it would be an issue. We were looking at using a thumprint peacock that was “pre-fingerprinted” and our guests would just have to sign their names. I know that there are loads of these on Etsy. The other option is that in order to make sure the tree is full, you could “pre-print” it yourselves and just ask everyone to sign their names throughout the braches, feather, ballons, etc. as to avoid someone accidntally getting ink on their clothes.

This was the one we looked at initially:

What do you guys think of having a stamp alternative if they don’t want to leave a print?

Our friends had a guest book tree, but used a leaf stamp instead of thumbprints (they had 3 different shaped leaf stamps for the guests to choose from).  The guests stamped on a branch and signed their name beside their leaf.

We opted for pre-printed leaves because the fingerprint tree at the last wedding we went to stained my dress. I had really wanted one before that little snafu 🙂

What PP said about the wet naps is an excellent idea!
