I’m going to DIY a thumbprint tree guestbook for our wedding.
I’ve penciled the tree on canvas and I was wondering what to use over the pencil? Will a paint work (and allow the thumbprints to stick if people stamp on top of the tree) or should I be using some sort of pen/marker?
I’m also trying to determine what kind of thin pen/marker to use for the signatures.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I was at a wedding show a while ago and there was a lady selling the bare trees for the thumbprints. She had painted the tree on canvas and then had green and blue ink pads for the prints. Then, we signed it with a fine point Sharpie marker.

I think seeing as its on canvas, paint would be ideal. Maybe you could think about using lighter colours to ensure the thumbprints stand out if they are put across the tree.

ours was done on watercolor canvas board; drawn with pen (like a fine point sharpie) and painted with watercolor.
