I’m not having a Thursday wedding, and I haven’t been to one. But do you have any specific ideas that you need help with? My guess is that your wedding should be shorter than most Saturday weddings. Starting around 6:30 or so (enough time to get off work and go to the location) and have dinner provided after the ceremony. But not too late. I’m no expert though ๐Ÿ™‚

Hm, I was reading a post the other day about a wedding that will be on a Friday. It was supposed to start at like 4pm or earlier… and it wasn’t a holiday. So maybe you can do it earlier.

I think you can do all the same things! Just make sure it’s timely so your guests can enjoy everything. Pictures will be fine on a Thursday, just make sure your bridal party & attendants take the full day off so y’all can get ready together and take pictures! Definitely do the dance, favors, the whole nine yards.

With so little people, I bet you can provide amazing favors for less money! I envy you ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m having 200 guests or more. If you want a relaxing dinner, I would say not to do toasts, they never relax me. They make me bored ๐Ÿ™ I know, that sounds awful! However, since it is such an intimate group, maybe people will like the toasts, ugh sorry I’m no help.

@Annushka: Hey there! You’ve got another Thursday bride here! We’re doing everything traditionally just starting at 5pm.  Are you getting married in a church? That’s why we’re starting at 5pm. Otherwise, I’d probably start at 5:30 or 6pm. We’re doing a regular 4 hour reception. We found that we saved ridiculous amounts of money by doing it on a Thursday.

I think you’ll be fine. ESPECIALLY since you have an intimate group. If you need help with anything specific, let me know. Most people are like, “Thursday? Who gets married on Thursday?!”So it will be nice to run things by other people.

We’re also having a Thursday wedding.  We’re starting at 4:00 and ending at 10, but the following Friday is a holiday for most people, so it’s not too bad.

Hi,

I am also a midweek bride, we are having our wedding on Wed evening. I am just in the beginning planning stage and I have the same questions. I want a traditional wedding, probably about 50 guests. I have been wondering about the dancing, photos etc as well. This is both of our second weddings (I didn’t have one the first time) so I was thinking about having the ceremony and reception at the same place. With a second wedding is it appropriate to have the whole nine yards?Would love to hear ideas!

@Annushka: We’re having a Catholic ceremony with a mass at 5pm. The reception is from 6:30p – 10:30pm.

Cocktail hour from 6:30p-7p. Entrance and first dance then on to dinner. We’ll have a blessing from the priests at dinner then a toast from the Best Man and Maid of Honor close to the end of dinner, but that’s about it. We’re not doing a cake cutting. Unfortunately <groan> we are doing the bouquet and garter toss. But that should only take about 5 minutes or so.

We’re doing the whole thing!! I’ve actually even considered adding an extra half hour just in case.

@AnnieM621: It’s absolutely appropriate to have the whole nine yards if that’s what you want. We are having about 130 people in attendance. We’ve gotten a lot of positives from our save the dates.

The only thing I’m doing differently that I should be mentioning above is the formal pictures. We’re only doing a handful of formal portraits. We just feel like life doesn’t sit still so our pictures shouldn’t either. We are taking a formal of us and us with our kids. But everything else will be done ad hoc throughout the night.

@Ms.Shamrock: Thanks, I really like your idea about the pictures. I like more candid photos a lot better anyway. This would be a great time saver!
