I just booked our tickets to St. Lucia for our September honeymoon. Now, I’m deciding on a place to stay. Considering one of the Sandals but not sure if it’s worth the $$. I’ve been reading mixed reviews here and on Trip Advisor. I’m thinking maybe Rendezvous or possibly splitting time between two resorts in different parts of the island.

Fun! That’s where we are going for our honeymoon next April. We have decided to rent a vacation house instead of going the all inclusive route–we llike the privacy and we are explorers. Otherwise we looked really hard a Jalouise Plantation. Here’s a link to the place we ended up booking: http://www.oasismarigot.com/st-lucia-villa-des-pitons.html

That looks beautiful! My parents stayed at the Jalousie a few years back and they said it was amazing but kind of a pain to get around to eat, go to the beach, etc..
I’m having a difficult time deciding if we should do our trusted (and loved) AI route or try something different. I’ll figure it out. Flights are booked so we’re going either way 😀

Yeah, we are renting a jeep (or similar). I have to admit, I am a bit leery of driving their roads…We picked St. Lucia because it was our favorite stop on a cruise we did a couple of years ago.

We were so happy with Sandals in St. Lucia (if you search, I did a review on their properties there) because of the 3 properties and shuttle between them. St. Lucia in Sept. is a bit of a weather ? just be prepared for some rain. We loved our Sept. honeymoon on the island. Have fun!!

Check out that place. I am dying to go there!!!!!

St. Lucia was great! We went to Ti Kaye Village and it was so wonderful. It’s a smaller more private and smaller resort than Sandals but it was perfect. The prices are reasonable, we think, and I highly recommend it (though it does take some time to get anywhere else on the island). The resort was so beautiful and relaxing. Here is one picture of the view from the restaurant. I’m sure no matter where you pick it will be great!

@ JS Dragonfly-my parents stayed at the Jalousie a few years back and loved it!
@ Shu Shu-I looked at the Ti Kaye, it is highly recommended on Trip advisor. I think we will stay somewhere a little more rustic like that for the first two nights then head to a bigger AI resort like Sandals or Rendezvous 🙂

@assilem: i Second that!
The Ladera was beautiful. We spent 4 nights there and it was just amazing. This is me floating in our private pool.

I should add that we spent the first 4 nights at Sandals La Toc. We wanted to break up our trip, and we are glad we did, that we experienced the all inclusive part of Sandals (got drunk, hung out with other couples etc), and then had complete privacy at the Ladera.
We did spend time at the jalousie, since that is the beach you can use while staying at the Ladera. It was a beautiful resort, with a nice swimmable beach, but it is not way up in the mountains like the ladera was.

@OhBeeHive84: We are also looking at splitting our trip between Sandals La Toc and Ladera.
How did you get from Sandals La Toc to Ladera (or vice versa) and how much did it cost?
How expensive was the food at Ladera for lunch and dinner?
How long did it take to get to the beach on the shuttle from Ladera?
We would love to split up our trip, but are trying to see if we can afford it!

I’m interested in Ladera as well, there is a package for there and a Sandals resort combined. What did everyone do in St. Lucia? We want to have activities to do like ziplining, parasailing, snorkeling, etc. but also want a nice resort to hang out at as well. We can’t decide where to do but I am very interested in St. Lucia.

We had originally booked our honeymoon for this past October. (wedding was pushed back) We had booked two days at Ladera then four at Sandals grande. THere was no deal with the both of them, booked them both separate. I too was a little worrie about Sandals, but that is why the Ladera part was great. We would get our “unique” honeymoon excitement there, but then get a gorgeous large property at Sandals. best of both worlds!
We chose a different spot for our hm next year, but I dont think you could go wrong with St Lucia! I hope to visit there someday!
