Im with you OP. All the hate is annoying- but granted if its in a thread asking for opinions you best believe people will give them!

I think there are beautiful rings to be had at all price points.

we will go with Tiffany because…. you get what you pay for. To us the markup is not that significant (just ran the comparable stats for a ring we looked at last week at T&C at bluenile and the difference was a little over a grand). At Tiffany that grand gets you a luxury experience, craftmanship, and a lifetime of service. Because of the quality standards your Fiance could go in blindly and come out with something beautiful. You can’t go wrong. You are not just paying for the blue box. You certainly dont see a hundred threads about Tiffany rings having diamonds fall out and poor repair and sizing jobs like there are on this board for Zales, Kay, Moissy Co etc.

If Tiffanys is in your budget and you love the rings- its a sure fire bet. People get holier than thou about it- “I’d rather buy a house, or save it in my 401k”. Well if you have to choose between a Tiffany ring and a house/retirement… then it’s not in your (responsible) budget.

4000 dollars to your Fiance could be the equivalent of 40,000 to someone elses. Live and let live and enjoy your sparklers with out calling anyone else stupid!

@FutureDrAtkins:  Yeah I agree, I didn’t really see anything snarky or rude on that post yesterday.

@RenoSweeney24:  I’m with you. I love my Soleste.  I love the service I get when I walk into Tiffany’s to get my ring clean.  We can afford it and I have no regrets about it.  Everyone have somethings that they are probably spending too much money on but it brings them joy so to each his own. There will always be people that say we are wasting our money.  They will always be people that say we are just “annoying groupies.” But I don’t really care because my ring is made by unicorns Wink

@LovelyCoCoBee:  I don’t think anyone compares Tiffany to Zales. There are many options in between a low end chain and a high end chain. Personally, I think local family-owned jewelers are the best.  These also range from lower to higher end.  The local jeweler where we got my ring from has amazing customer service, lifetime guarantees, etc. etc. all of what you get at Tiffany without the same price markup.

Tiffany is hardly the only higher-end brand out there.  Many of the other high end brands don’t have stores, but that doesn’t mean you don’t get a luxury experience and lifetime service etc from the retailer you bought it from.

I know plenty of people who have found the Tiffany experience to be less than ideal because they were “lower end” buyers purchasing rings on the smaller and less expesnive side.

My ring is custom, not Tiffany & it makes me a bit shy to think about the cost ( I am super frugal and appreciate his work). But he got me exactly what I wanted and the process of designing was so exciting and fun for both of us–I think people should appreciate that the bee SOa know and love their bees so much that they can get them a lower priced, designer, or custom ring that reflects the individual bee’s priorities and tastes. Just my 2 cents – congrats to everyone

PREACH IT!

My ring is not a from Tiffany’s.  It’s actually from- SHOCK- Kay’s.  And I’m always seeing comments on how silly/dumb it is to get a ring from a mall store because they’re so expensive/service sucks/whatever.  And every time I’m like, well, actually, the price was comparable to a local jeweler, it doesn’t matter if I build up a relation with a local jeweler cause we’ll be moving soon anyways, and I’ve actually had better customer service at Kay’s than at a local jeweler.  Oh, and I love my ring.  But it doesn’t matter, because mall chains are dumb.  Argh.

@joya_aspera:  Don’t take people trying to put down your Tiffany ring personally. It sounds like envy to me.

You had me until the envy part. Just because people don’t agree or don’t politely convey their feelings does NOT mean they are jealous. That excuse is over used and incredibly off base. Am I to assume that everyone that does not like diamonds, halos or larger diamonds is jealous of me if their comments are a bit rough? No, not at all.

@RenoSweeney24:  I’m sorry if you are bothered by what people say regarding your ring. Opinons are like assholes as we all know. I have read many a comment that would relate to my ring and in the end we like what we like and that is all there is to it.

Me personally, not a Tiffany fan in general. DH dislikes it as well. That being said to each their own. I have a beautiful ring, you have a beautiful ring…aren’t we both lucky? πŸ™‚

@RenoSweeney24:  Post my ring? Um yes!

And this with the Novo band πŸ™‚

No not my dog but Westies are just the cutest.  I had one growing up and just love the “I don’t give a crap” attitude.  Hope to get another one again some day when I have a yard.
