I just went to look at the Tiffany Classic Solitaire and De Beers pave erings. Both are beautiful on my finger. Which one do you recommend? Please post your photo. I am not sure if the Tiffany knife edge is comfortable? Is De Beers goodbye quality?
1. Tiffany Classic Solitaire: 0.8 ct, I, VS1, 6 prong
2. De Beers pave Solitaire: 1 ct, I, SI2, 4 prong

personally I like the debeers. I’m not a fan of knife edge though I can’t comment as to whether or not it’s comfortable.

Do you also have De Beers? Can you post your ring parameters and photos please?

I’m a 6 prong girl so I would go with T&Co.
But don’t limit yourself. Trust me when I say you can find some AMAZING solitaires out there for so much cheaper and just as special. Though if your heart is set on a brand name then it’s not for me to judge!

I like DeBeers more… imo their stuff is consistently prettier.

I like the 6 prong ring. I have a 6 prong solitaire as well, I feel like my diamond is a little more safe with the extra prongs. I tend to smash my ring off of things quite often because it sits so high and I’m a little clumsy. If the extra prongs would bring you a better sense of security I’d go for the Tiffany ring. Also the 6 prongs makes my stone look very round, I also tried on a 4 prong ring and it made it look more like a square stone.

@beebea35: I am a Tiffany girl. They have a cache all their own and a lovely history. Here is a Tiffany style that the Debeers is more similar to (Tiffany also has others) :
The Tiffany ring you posted has better specs than the Debeers, although the Debeers is larger. Are they similarly priced?

Well, I like Tiffany 6 prong but I am worried about the knife edge band as it did not feel too comfortable when I tried it on. Or is it something people used to when wearing?
I am not really afraid of safety so either 4 or 6 is ok with me.
Regarding brands, I was looking around for quite some time and these 2 appeared to me great quality vs some other brands I saw.
The price is about 8k fort the Tiffany and 11k for the DeBeers. I think it’s mainly due to the size. I am not sure how good is SI2 clarity as I always looked at VS as lowest at other companies.

@beebea35: Hello! I had the same dilemma. I definitely picked De Beers over Tiffany’s b/c I like the lower settings and the diamond sparkle. At De Beers I picked out 3 setting, the plain classic, the pave, and the promise. My fiance got tme the plain classic with a 1.55 ct stone. I believe he went down in color and went up in clairty so I have a K color, VS2 clarity ring. Cut is excellent. I don’t know the cost of the ring i have but when we went in the store the rings around 1.5 carats were between $17-36k.

Tiffany, it is really comfortable, mine is 0.61ct in yellow gold, and I love it!

We have a De Beers engagement ring (not a solitare). It was the only stock ring we really liked on my finger.
For what it’s worth, the service we received at the De Beers boutique was so much more personal than at Tiffany’s. They know us both by name and when we pop in will ask about our wedding plans. We’ll most likely get FI’s wedding band from De Beers as well, although Tiffany’s makes one that he likes (but is more expensive).
SI2 from De Beers is most likely eye clean, so if the size is what is important to you then I would go with that one. They should be able to show you with a loupe or their microscope where the inclusions are.

From those two selections I like the De Beers one better.. but if you showed me a Tiffany solitare with a pave I would have chosen that one.
I’m biased tho, I love Tiffany.
