I like 4 prongs, cause I like seeing more diamond and less metal. But the size of the diamond matters too, when making this choice.

Not that we’d be able to afford it, but Darling Husband told me that not knowing the specs of the diamond at Tiffany really off-put him about buying a diamond there. So if that’s important to you then I’d say go for De Beers.

However, if your gf loves Tiffany, then having a Tiffany engagement ring is a pretty cool experience!

Darling Husband told me that when he went ring shopping, he couldn’t find a diamond in store that was as high quality as the one he found online from Blue Nile. So you could always buy the diamond online and have it set at a jeweler if super high quality is important to you!

As someone who has a modern, somewhat minimalist taste in jewelry, might I suggest you look into Blue Nile? They have all of the diamond specs up front and lots of simple, clean designs to choose from. You can get an amazing diamond and the most bang for your buck, so to speak.

I have a simple 18k gold Blue Nile wedding band, and it is by far my favorite piece of jewelry.

Of your two choices, I would go with the Tiffany because the setting is perfection. I never liked 4-prong settings with round diamonds.

bluehawk :  I had the same problem!I liked Tiffany and Debeers. My husband bought me the de beers classic  solitaire and I love it 😍.It was the second time than we bought something at De beers, the experience was emotional and the service was great.De beers diamonds are beautiful ( like Tiffany&co) and a little cheaper than Tiffany. The setting is very minimalist and I prefer the four prongs look because is less roundish than 6.Choose what your heart tells you and enjoy 😊

I personally hope that you go for an online company like James Allen, Blue Nile, Brilliant Earth…

When we were looking at rings, diamonds, we went to Tiffany’s and the rough difference between the setting and specs there and between the setting and stone we could get online was around $20,000 AUD.

Do you really want to spend that much extra?

When you say minimalist, does she also care about the environment? We decided on a lab diamond with recycled gold for this reason. I’m minimalist and conservative, too. If you know that she cares about the environment this could be a nice/special touch when she learns about it’s origin

bluehawk :  Since you profess concern over the ethics behind DeBeers, and wanting to protect your Girlfriend from that, I wonder if you have considered an ethically sourced diamond by Brilliant Earth?

Both rings are beautiful, and I’ll chime in since he proposed with an absolutely gorgeous Tiffany’s ring. He was very happy with the customer service provided, which I read was a concern of yours. We’ve had zero problems with Tiffany’s. 🙂 Just our experience though!
