I agree with fredthebasil  .  Pay for their dresses and hotel. If you still want to give a gift, Etsy has a boatload of beautiful options at all price points.

Ann Benner : I would prefer for the cost of the dress or hotel to be covered versus jewelry. I’m particular about what I wear and I personally already have pearl studs, so I’d appreciate the alleviation of the cost to be in your wedding over extra gifts that I may never use.

Robe and hanger aren’t gifts. They’re for your wedding photos.

I would get a nice, but less expensive set of pearl earrings. For Tiffany, you are paying for the name, you can get beautiful pearls for much cheaper!

I love pearls – but to me a robe and hanger are props not gifts. I’ve never used one hanger again or robe – they usually sit in a closet. I’d prefer my hotel and dress paid for over trinkets.

Ann Benner :  I wouldn’t feel comfortable accepting a gift this size from anyone but my own husband or parents.  Might be different in your circle, I don’t know, but to me it’s outrageous.  Like a few of the others, I’d much prefer that you covered wedding expenses and let me save/spend my own money as I choose – incidentally this is what I did for my girls.  If that’s something you are already doing anyway (which seems feasible if you’re so generous with your gifting) then a much smaller and more personal gift would be best.  Something more tailored to individual tastes.

Pearls! However, I do agree with other PPs that perhaps the cost of the hotel or dresses could be more practical and appreciated.
