We are having a very small wedding and only want a photographer to get pictures of the ceremony and portraits but I don’t know how much time to ask for them to be there. One photographer said three hours – does that sound right? There are only going to be Fiance and I, maid of honour, best girl and both of our parents present at the wedding. No pictures of the dinner we are having as a reception.

I believe 3 hours sounds about right – hot long is the ceremony?

I would say 3 hours is plenty of time, I’m assuming a 30 minute ceremony? And, photo shoot will be on location of the wedding?
Is the reception just with those at the wedding, or are you having a bigger reception?

Ms Smitten, when I was looking for a Photographer I had the same Dillema.
I am also having a avery small Wedding.
I was lucky enough to find a Photographer that made me a package ala cart.
We agreed on 4 hours total.
She’s only taking pics of the ceremony, some portraits and a little bit of the Reception lunch before we sit down and eat, she says people dont like being photographed eating, so it works out great.
So it IS doable, no worries hun.

I think 3 hours sounds right. We are doing some photos before the wedding and the photographer said 2 to 4 hours depending on how many different poses and locations we plan on using.

Thanks everyone! The reception itself is just who will be present at the ceremony. Not sure how long the ceremony will be but I would say half an hour just to be on the safe side. Portraits are being done across the street 🙂
