What is the best time of day to test? I’ve seen conflicting answers on the internet. Would it be better to do it first thing in the morning OR to limit my intake and hold for four hours and do second urine? I have the ClearBlue digital ovulation tests if that helps!

I always did mine first thing in the morning as I was at home and easy to remember.
i think the important thing is to do them at the same time each day.
also it’s possible to have a false gear up so you should continue to test for a few days after a positive result just in case

I’ve read that LH readings are highest between 11am to 3pm, but I always used first morning urine with no problems. I found that that’s when it was most concentrated and my readings were more accurate; and like @Twizbe:
said, I knew I could consistently remember to take tests at that time of day.

Thanks both! I am glad I won’t have to hold it during the day!

I read you’re most likely to catch the surge in the afternoon, but I remember doing them twice a day to be sure once it was getting close.

i usually did them in the morning because it was easier to remember, but sometimes would do them in the evening if my morning one was close to being positive. i think i probably ovulate at night because i would often get a positive in the evening.

I always catch my surge in the evening. I can usually tell by what the morning OPK looks like that it’s coming, but that’s just because I’ve been using OPKs for 22 cycles now (did get pregnant in the middle and had a baby). My surge is short so if I didn’t check til the next morning my OPKs would be negative.

When I was using Clear Blue Advanced they worked best in the morning, firs morning urine, but with others they usually work better in the afternoon. I liked the CBA ones for that very reason. I couldn’t easily hold my pee for four hours and testing while at work was a hassle (though that isn’t an issue nowadays with quarantine I guess if you are at home at for the time being).

I always took them first thing in the morning, because I got up at the same time every day for work and it made it consistent. It was also easy to remember. Wale up, take BBT, get out of bed and take OPK.

They typically say the afternoon or early evening because LH is released overnight and takes some time to make its way to your urine. Like PPs said, I’ll do mine in the morning and when I think I’m getting close I’ll do it again in the evening..or 3 or 4 times that day because I want to see how blazing it can get!
