I was about to book my wedding for a little over 6 months from now. I’m confident in planning everything in that time frame, but literally JUST realized (while reading another post), that I might not be able to get a dress by then! Is it possible to get a dress ordered and altered in five to six months? I haven’t even started looking yet 🙁
I know that David’s bridal is usually quick, but I didn’t necessarily want to buy from there.
If you had to scramble to find a dress, please share your experience! (and dress pics!)

Most dresses come in within 16 weeks, which would allow you time for alterations. If that timeline makes you uncomfortable, you could consider sample sales where you can cash & carry the dress the same day. Or if you’re open to pre-owned dresses there are several sites where you could buy and probably get possession of the dress within a week or two.

I didn’t necessarily have to scramble but I ordered mine at the 7 month mark and everyone was telling me I would probably need to put a rush on it. I didn’t and I received my dress in less than a month. It was a Maggie Sottero.
Sample sales or a trunk show is a good idea. Just tell the consultant when you go to try on when your wedding is, they will let you know the best options.

@Missykate: my friend got her dress in a small boutique – mid july of last year- her wedding was in November – it can be done!
