We didn’t plan ahead, and then I was scheduled to get it on wedding day. I just kept taking my bc pills until after the honeymoon and it stayed away.

If you’ve never taken bc pills, but you’re not opposed to them for whatever reason, I would suggest taking them. They have many benefits, prevent pregnancy (obviously), lighter periods, reduced/no cramps, shorter length of period, predictable periods (come like clock work) better/clearer skin AND you can control when you get your period. I get mine before the wedding and then 2 days after we get back from the honeymoon, so I have nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps!

I didn’t plan either, but I SHOULD have my visitation the week before my wedding/honeymoon.  Works for me!

There is really nothing to be scared of. I had a friend who was scared to take them, but once I told her all the benefits she started taking them and now wonders why she didn’t do it sooner.

It usually takes 2-3 months for your body to get used to taking them and after that you probably won’t feel “sick”. I never felt sick when I started taking them, only a little bloated at first and that was it.

If you’re interested or just curious and want to have some questions answered you should go to your doctor.

Good luck!

I’m a non-BC user (we’ll be using NFP to avoid pregnancy)…don’t make yourself sick over trying to schedule things just right.  My cycles have gone CRAZY from the stress, so in the last six months, “the math” has shown us all sorts of different outcomes.  We’ve reached a “whatever happens, happens” philosophy…so I’d say, just pick a date, hope for the best, and communicate about what you’re comfortable with on the honeymoon if things don’t go according to plan.

@MuchGreater: Sex is a little “weird and nasty” in nature. Bodies are beautiful!

I guarantee that one time in your life you will have sex while you’re on your period!

Go on birth control pills so that you can totally control when you get your period. It’s nice having my period be predictable and plan around things with it! Before I was on the pill my period came at the worst times… all on time give or take a couple days, but it’s so nice to be able to control when!
