I wish I had seen this before I planned my time line!
I’ve pretty much figured out the timeline for my wedding and reception, but I’m stuck on how long everything before that is going to take. When and where should I get started?
The rule is that you want to be safely hidden away at least 45 minutes before your ceremony (your guests will start showing up 30 minutes before it starts), so you need to work backward from that. If you’re getting your hair and makeup done, talk to the artist and find out how long it’s going to take. Are your bridesmaids getting in on that, too? Schedule it so you’re the last in line, so you’ll be the freshest. Then figure out with your photographer when pictures should start, and more importantly, where they’re going to be. If you’re starting at the hotel, then traveling 20 minutes away for shots at the park, and then another 15 to get back to your venue, then you have to take that all into account. Add an extra 5 minutes for every 3 people that need to take pictures with you. Trust me.
Oh, and another tip: Make sure you get the earliest check-in and check-out times at your hotel that you can. Put that on your checklist to for the week before your wedding.
