We are having an outdoor wedding (ceremony and reception at same place).
Here are the quick details:
-September, in Hawaii
-Plan to do ceremony, cocktail hour, platted dinner, cake cutting, dancing, exit…
Need help/ideas for when to do the first dance, what to do during the cocktail hour (open bar of course and lot’s of snacks), and an overall order of events to keep things flowing…
Also, how do you make a grand exit?

I will post mine in case it helps. My wedding ceremony was at 2:30, lasted until about 3:30. Cocktail hour began at 4:30, dinner and dance right after, ending at 10.
4:30 PM – Wine & Cheese Begins
5:30 PM – Announcement for guests to find seats, Blessing, and Dinner Service begins
6:30 PM – First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance
Dance Floor Open after
7:15 PM – Announcement that champagne is available for the toast at the bar
7:30 PM – Toasts (2), Cake Cutting
Dance floor back open after
8:30 PM – Bouquet Toss, Garter Toss, Aggie War Hymn
Dance floor open after
9:15 PM – Last Call
9:30 PM – Last Dance, Send-off
10:00 PM – Reception Ends
The last dance was “Friends in low places” because our guests were big country dancers, plus whoever didn’t dance belted it out at the top of their lungs. Fun for all. The DJ made an announcement for everyone to line the sidewalk outside for our exit, and we left! Hope this helps!

I think we are basing ours on this guideline from A Practical Wedding:
