Hey there! I’m not much help with the timeline thing… Hopefully someone else can help you with that! I just have to ask… 400 people?! I see this quite a bit around the bee. Weddings around my area are just not that big! Who on earth are you inviting?! Haha sorry to be nosey!

I have a VERY EXTENSIVE timeline I’m using that I’ve compiled from other timelines I’ve found online and customized for our specific needs. Look on Pinterest! There are always timelines floating around on there that are really helpful.

Fyi, I’m 10/12/13, and we sent our save the dates a month ago bc 1/4 of our guest list is out of town. We got our bands a year in advance and I just selected my bridesmaid dresses.

Join weddingwire.com. They have awesome timeline, budget, seating chart tools, plus really neat free website. I’m so glad I found it. I’d be so lost w/out it.

I second weddingwire.com for their timelines. I found a BUNCH on pinterest as well as choose the one that worked best. I also have the ‘wedding plandroid’ app on my phone. It helps me keep track of my budget, guests, vendors, and timeline. Its pretty good for being free 😉

This is what I’ve personally done…I hope this helps in some way!

Send save the dates? Out of town guests usually demand an early Save The Date to book travel…I sent mine out 7 months in advance and it seemed to work well enough for far away guests as everyone has booked airfare!

Get my dress altered? My wedding is late July and my first alteration appointment is April 30. My final fitting will be the last week of June.

Buy our wedding bands? Depends of it you are doing a ‘layaway’ option from a large chain or buying outright. We bought outright and walked away with my rings that day. FI’s titanium bands have to be custom made and that took 3 months.

Shop for bridesmaids dresses? If you are shopping at a large chain such as David’s Bridal, they recommend that FINAL day for buying a dress for it to come in on time (with no alterations) is 8 weeks. If you buy from a designer line from a shop they usually take upwards of 3 months…however I have seen them take longer of 4-6 months as well. I personally got mine from David’s Bridal because a few girls are out of town and that’s the only chain they had somewhat close to them.

Plan the rehearsal dinner? We just booked our rehersal dinner last week. We didn’t have any problem fighting for a date with a resturant because our rehersal will take place on Thursday instead of the traditional Friday so Friday isn’t jammed packed with running around and stress.

Hope this helps you in some way and FYI time really does fly! Fiance and I have been engaged for a year and a half now and our date is zooming up!
