Last night I finally had the ‘timeline’ talk with my bf, and I now have a timeline of getting engaged in about 3 years. That is such a long time I know, but I’m actually really happy and excited that it WILL happen one day and I literally feel like I’m floating on air today. It’s going to be such a long wait, but I understand why we have to wait (we are saving to go travelling in 2014). I feel like ‘engaged to be engaged’ which is really exciting and I am young anyway so there is absolutely no rush. I also suddenly feel way happier for my engaged friends which is great. Anybody else have a long timeline and happy about it?

Congratulations on getting a timeline! I didn’t have a long timeline, went from a year to six months to 3 months 😛 but I will have a long engagement, about three and a half years from engagement to wedding 🙂 so i know how it can be exciting being able to start planning things based on a timeline/date

I wish you the best. :/ when I got the long timeline from my SO, he never made it. “Next year.” Year passes. “Next year.” Another year passes. I was so sad. Finally put my foot down and told him I felt strung along and whaddya know, suddenly he’s surfing MoissaniteCo.com lol told me he needed a kick in the butt.
But you have a tangible reason for a long waiting period so that’s good, plus you get a fun vacation out of it to boot!

I think I have a pretty long wait. I had the first timeline talk with my SO in June and he said a year or 2 but it can just as easily turn into 3 or 4 lol I’m in grad school (have 4 years left) and he’s just started making decent money at his job and he wants to move out first, so I know that’s what he’s saving for now.
I think I can be happy about it because I know it makes sense and is the responsible thing to do. I also don’t feel like I have to be in any rush, so we’re just enjoying our time together.
Of course, there are some pretty bad waiting days lol

It’s great you have a timeline it really puts things in prospective especially when you are young

@Kat_Kit2000: Pretty much the same boat! 4 years of school left ahead of me.
It’ll probably be in 3 years, but I’m gunning for 2! haha. I’m happy either way knowing that my day will come. I’m 25, so I don’t mind being a 29 year old bride

Yay, you have a timeline! And hey, you don’t have to even think about it for three whole years, that’s great! My timeline is “when I can afford it.” It’s a nail-biter.
