When did you order your dress? I’ve only been to 3 dress shops so far. One of them told me I would have to order my dress by the 2nd week of Jan. when my wedding isn’t until 9/17. She said because I wanted to switch out the back of the dress and because the designers are a month behind she suggested ordering it that far out. Everyone I have told this to (other brides, friends) think this is nuts. Is it?
I’m feeling alot of pressure to hurry up and do dress shopping since I heard that. With the holidays around the corner, this is hard to do. I know rush order is possible but being a plus size bride I’m already going to have extra costs because of that. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks 🙂

I started dress shopping in August and I put the order in at the end o Septeber. I still haven’t received it yet.
It usually doesn’t take as long to come in as they say it will. I would have something ordered no later than March.

It depends on the dress, the turnaround can be anywhere from 8 to 16 weeks just to get the dress in the store, then if you have alterations, that usually takes another 4-12 weeks depending on the amount. Since you said you have a fair amount of alterations that will need to get done, I would probably order the dress by February to give you a good cushion.
Mine it coming in 8-10 weeks, and then I have to take the hem up, so another 4 weeks or something like that. I’m on the short end, but I’d rather have my dress sitting and waiting than wait too long and not be able to get the one I want or have to scramble last minute.
