So I know it varies a lot by designer, but does the bridal shop usually lets you know ahead of time “your dress is expected to be here on date X” or do they just call you when it’s there?
I bought dress on May 10th, bridal store said it would arrive at the end of August.
Do I just wait until then? Does the store call you at some point to confirm the actual date?
I don’t want to call them and ask if that’s not expected of them. If it is, when should I be hearing back with a more firm arrival date?
I’m worried because I made an appt with a very-much in demand local seamstress for early September, if the dress is not here by then, I might not be able to use her, and be stuck paying for the high alteration prices of the store.

Hm…I’d call them and just ask if they have a delivery date yet?

@beekiss2 — that’s my question (probably poorly phrased on my post above), are they supposed to have a delivery date? It sounds like a yes. And how long after my order should they have one? (Right now it’s been about 6 weeks.)

I think they should have an expected delivery date for you from the manufacturer.

when i ordered my dress she said to call back after 1 week and she would have an estimated delivery date.

I ordered my dress the same day as you! So I’m waiting until august as well. I didn’t want to be all bridezilla on them and ask too early, but its hard! I think I’m gonna go call them right now, lol!
/edit: boo! they told me the last week of september 🙁

@ CCSR – I remember that you & I have the same dress. I ordered mine on January 16th and they sent me a card the next week telling me that my delivery date would be the end of May. And that’s EXACTLY when it was – not earlier, not later. I called the store a couple days before it arrived just as a sanity check, and they were able to see that it had shipped & would be in within the week. So, if I were you, I would at least call in mid-August.
The store I went to also said that they have a great relationship with Maggie Sottero & that they generally trust their lead times.

@SLS79 — It took 5 months? That really scares me! I ordered the dress 6.5 months before the wedding, but I’m also traveling beforehand…
I called the store and they told me “end of August” I asked for a more specific date (explaining my parents will be in the country in August, and it would be nice of them to see it BEFORE the wedding — all which is true), and they told me “call back first week of August for a more accurate date.”
