I’m really worried about our timeline. what do y’all think?
early morning – bride/bridesmaids hair and makeup at salon
12pm – bridesmaids and bride arrive at chapel (photos – getting dressed and posed together)
12:45 – groomsmen and groom arrive (photos – getting ready and posed. I have it staggered because I don’t want him to see me before)
2pm – wedding ceremony starts
2:30-2:45 – wedding ceremony ends
2:45-4pm – wedding photos (family, whole bridal party, bride and groom)
4pm – reception starts (bar opens, appetizers)
4:30ish – bridal party annouced and first dance follows
4:45 – Buffet opens
5-5:30 designated eating time
5:30ish toasts followed by cake cutting (toastscan start while guests are still eating)
6ish – ceremonial dances (dad/bride, groom/mom)
6ish – 8 dancing and mingling
Also we’re using a laptop for music. Do you think 2 hours of dance music will suffice if dancing and mingling are between 6 and 8? I don’t see the dancing starting sooner than that looking at the schedule. Also, I have 2 hours of dinner music to play from the start of the reception until dancing. (although we won’t use it all since the different dances will be done intermittantly during that time.

what will your guests be doing between 2:45 -4? why aren’t you entering until 4:30? that seems like a little too much downtime for your guests. if you’re having a cocktail hour from 3-4, you should enter no later than 4:15. your guests have already spent the last hour mingling among themselves, they’re going to want to see the bride and groom!
also, move your cake cutting back. that’s the cue for some people to leave, and you don’t want them to leave immediately after dinner (plus everyone needs time to digest!) i would do it around 6:30.

I was wondering why you are arriving at the chapel before the groom? Traditionally the bride comes last with BMs..
I think your timeline is fine.

I would start the appetizers while the wedding party is taking pictures. Otherwise people will get bored.
