We got married Saturday!
Arrived at our hotel Friday night and walked over to my mom’s surprise 70th birthday party. All of that went well and she was thrilled to discover we were throwing a surprise wedding.
Saturday morning we all got up and had breakfast and started getting dressed. My husband helped his son get dressed so he was very late to start getting ready. We were supposed to meet the wedding co-ordinator at 9:30 and at 9:05 he discovered he had no shirt! I was PANICKED but he was calm. I remembered that we’d passed a Goodwill on our way to the restaurant the night before so he took off running, didn’t even take his phone. I finished getting the kids ready and gathered up our things and went to the lobby. Much to my surprise, hubby was running back! He’d found a men’s suit store and got a shirt, fitted and pressed in 20 minutes. WHEW
Kari from Everlasting Elopements in San Antonio showed up and went up to the wedding space while we waited for our family. My brother was late, as usual. So, we all finally got up to the space I’d never seen about 10:10. It was very nice. We were the first wedding ever held at the Drury Inn on the Riverwalk and Kari and the hotel manager had picked the space out for us since we live out of town. It had a lovely outdoor area but the weather didn’t co-operate so we had the ceramony indoors. It was VERY laid back, in fact my darling husband simply could not manage to repeat the vows, he has ADD and the officiant used to long of sentences so when he put the ring on my finger, after asking the officiant to repeat himself twice, my husband ended up saying “whatever” which probably would have upset some brides but I understood how nervous he was and I know how bad his ADD can get so I just said “I know what you mean” and laughed.
We exchanged rings with each other and with the kids, which was very sweet. Then everyone had cake and punch and that was that. It went very well considering our very low budget ($300 total for everything) and I still can’t believe we are married!!
