@ChampagneBlushWedding:  I didn’t, but she was the owner of her own company.

I do not think this is necessary, especially if she is the owner of the company.

I did and I think I tipped $10. My trial was $90 so I just gave her $100. She is the owner of her company.

I didn’t tip anything… I honestly didn’t think of tipping! My MUA is freelance, so she set how much the trial would be. I think at $80 that was more than enough for less than two hours work >.< Or maybe I’m just cheap!?

I definitely didn’t even think to tip. My trial cost $150 and she’s self employed so I’m hoping my lack of tip was ok. Regardless, I signed her so I’m sure she understands her tip comes on the wedding day.

Thinking back – I didn’t tip the caterer or photographer or officiant for our trials/previous meetings  I’m not sure if trial tipping is customary or necessary.

For those who didn’t tip at the trial, did you tip day-of even if they were self-employed?

Tips are a huge part of a mua/stylists income, just because someone works for themselves doesn’t mean they don’t need the money! I don’t think it’s necessary to tip for a trial and if you’re happy with the result on the wedding day it is totally appropriate to tip! 🙂

Unless a hug counts as a tip…. no I did not tip after my makeup trial.

If she did a wonderful job and you want the same quality for your special day, definitly tip her! And I’d say round up $5 if that’s the case 🙂
