I just sent out my invitations, and I really wish I had numbered my response envelopes, and kept a list.
The post office apparently mangled several of our invitations, and we are getting empty response cards in the mail. So far we’ve received 3. The response cards appear just fine, so it makes no sense — someone must have pulled the invite apart.
We don’t know which of our guests received invites, and which did not. What a nightmare!!! The post office is a disaster.
If I had numbered the envelopes (as I considered doing), I would have known who these belonged to. Instead, we now have to ask around to all our guests.
Good luck all!

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
I actually used a black-light invisible ink pen and numbered the backs of the cards themselves. That was handy handy.

ugh, bummer! sorry to hear that, i hope everything works out. i’m actually planning on doing what scissors did too!

scissors, that is a great idea! Where did you find a pen like that?

Yes, where do you find a pen like that??

Great suggestion, I think I will be doing this, thanks! And please tell us where you got the pen, scissors.

Boo! That’s gotta be a pain! I would call around to your guest and explain that some of the invites got lost in the mail and ask if they got one. At least that way people will know why they didn’t receive an invite and if you have the time/money you can resend out invites to those people.

@nwuhunt… thanks for the tip! sorry yours have gotten so messed up but i really appreciate your sharing your headaches to make ours less!
as far as blacklight pens… i saw this website that offers a pen and pocket blacklight for $11.

I bought a black light pen on amazon for not much than $4. I would have never thought of this but the hive is full of amazing ideas! I hope that it comes in handy come invite time.

I numbered mine but instead of using a black light pen or something crazy I decided to number the inside of the rsvp envelopes! No one would be able to see the numbers unless they where looking for them!

I wish I would have gotten a black light pen! ahh!
I am going to use a small pen and number like @thebrigade did except on the back of the reply cards themselves…
