Love to know what NYers tip! Qs: if your venue has an “administrative fee” percentage included, what do you tip the catering/wait/bar staff? How about the photographer, if it’s his own business? Hair/makeup if it’s their own business? Cake baker? Florist? Secular officiant? Thoughts? Thanks!

I’ve never heard of an “administrative fee” before. You should ask whose services are covered under the fee. Our venue had an all-inclusive gratuity of 18% for all those people and there was a “recommended” gratuity of $2 per guest for the maitre’d. I paid everyone else $100 each (photo, video, baker, florist, limo driver, officiant, DJ, etc).

I also did about $100 each. Maitre’d we did about $250.

My venue in NYC charges an ‘administration & service fee’ that does not cover gratuities for the staff. I asked the venue coordinator what people tip (if any) on top of that. He said tips are absolutely not expected. But if you want, up to 3% of the total catering bill can be given to the head Maitre’D, who will be distribute it out to the staff.
