I think it’s a good idea to tip for the trial if she does a good job. Since you don’t know the value of the package, why not just give a certain dollar amount that feels right, like $20-$30

I agree I’m a hairstylist makeup artist, I also have wedding packages , it good to tip, but it never bothers me at all if it’s all on wedding day. If it makes you feel more comfortable I would just tell her you will on that day 🙂

I would also tip for the trial.  I actually forgot to give her the tip when I left, so I mailed her a check.  She was very appreciative.

@cconway:  Are you paying for everyone’s hair and makeup?  If you are, I’d say give one big tip and let them divy it up.  If you are only paying for yours, then I’d tip just the owner.  I’m not paying for my girls to get their hair and makeup done because mine alone is costing me $300 and I plan on buying them real 14k jewelry.  So I’m leaving it up to them to tip for their own services.  (That’s not rude, right? lol)

Yes, tip right after the trial.  I did 20% as well because I thought my lady did a really good job.  Plus they spend about 2-3 hours with you during the trial.
