We tipped our ceremony musicians — a string quartet — along with those you mentioned. And yes, the standard 20% is fine. 🙂

Caterers (this one is a big one because usually the wait staff make less than minimum wage and rely on tips to survive, bar tender, officiant (for some), your nail and/or waxing lady, and if you happen to need your seemstress to come to your day off, you should tip her as well.

That’s all I can think of at this point.

I would say yes you should tip those people. As for the DJ, tip them at the very end if you feel they deserved it.

🙁 but my makeup artist/hair person charged me 800 just for me.  I can’t afford to tip her. Would it be bad if i didn’t?

We tipped vendors who did not own their own businesses and did a good job.  For us, we ended up only tipping the bartender.

That’s a good rule then.  most of my vendors own their own business and already charge a lot for their services.

@jboltz19: I have heard that the wait staff does not receive any of that 21% fee that you are paying. If you have servers bringing food to the tables to your guests, you should tip. I would also ask your venue.

My venue doesn’t ask for tips and we are doing a sit down meal with servers, so we are asked to tip if we’d like, but it all depends on personal preference, different venues, and if the wait staff get’s more than the minimum wage (any of that 21%). When in doubt, ask the vender.
