I have a bit of a problem coming up! I was perusing Facebook, and my friend posted something about her hair. That reminded me, I need to get my hair done, soon!!
I have an upcoming University graduation ceremony on June 5th, and the very next day we leave for Montreal to go to the F1 Grand Prix. I have not had my roots done since December, and they look pretty bad.
So I called my go-to hair stylist of 6 years, and she was entirely booked up. I don’t want anyone else doing my hair because she just knows my hair, if you get what I mean.
So she said she would come in on her day off, the 4th of June at 10am, to do my hair. I am so happy she is doing this for me, but I know that my usual tip of 20% won’t be enough to show her that I truly appreciate the favor she is doing for me!
How much do you think would be appropriate? My bill, for my length of hair and how much I need my roots done (blonde), runs around $90-110. Please help!!

@honie309: If you usually give 20 percent, then that would be $22 on $110. If you don’t feel that is enough, maybe up it to $30 or $40 depending on how generous you feel? I totally get what you mean – I have only one stylist I will use, and I have been “seeing” her for years now. I would pay $1,000 to avoid seeing someone else, lol.

That sounds fairly reasonable to me! Thanks! Oh and I know what you mean, I can’t cheat on my stylist. If she ever quits hairstyling, I’d pay double to have her still do my hair, or train someone else to do my hair!

My stylist is a looooooooong time (15+ years) friend of my BF, so he is amazing about getting me in when he’s book AND tends to ‘hook it up.’ Case in point: went in for a $300+ corrective color, left with and $85 bill. You bet your ass his tip was $100+!
In your case, I’d flip her $50-75 for coming in on her day off 🙂
