I’m playing with my budget and experimenting with monthly payments for everyone… and I realized I need to think about tax and tip, too. So I emailed my potential DJ and asked him the protocol for tax+tip for him, and he told me tax is not an issue and that tips are appreciated but unnecessary. It’s him, his son (the main DJ) and their assistant. Should I still tip anyway or save the money? We’re on a seriously tight budget.

@Omgbunnies: For those who have their own company, a referral is often more important than giving a tip. I think if you wrote a good review on something like yelp and emailed him about it, he would find that more useful.

I have heard on here if the vendor owns their own business, then tipping is not usually customary. But he’s bringing an assistant so that part I don’t know.

I agree, I didn’t tip any vendors that owned their own business because the money goes directly to them. Only people I tipped were catering staff (included in contract), hair and makeup, and probably the limo drivers?
