@[email protected]: You don’t usually tip the owner of the company.  You would tip employees that work for someone as they are not getting the full payment.  But since this lady owns the company I woudln’t tip her anything.

If she works for herself, tipping is not necessary bnecause she establishes her own rate for her time. Your biggest tip is writing a good review on yelp or wedding wire, and referring other potential clients to her.

I’m also wondering about this as I have a day-of coordinator. I just read a book on tipping a few months ago and learned what the PP mentioned–that if the coordinator owns her own business you don’t have to tip her. But I sort of feel a little wierd about not doing anything. Maybe you could get her a gift certificate to a restaurant? Or if she has mentioned something she likes doing in her free time maybe something related to that? ie. gift certificate to a knitting store. Oooh, ooh! Or maybe a pound of nice candy or something from Harry and David’s, like some fruit?
