Wearing a mermaid gown and wondering how they worked out for past brides. Any do’s or don’ts? Peeing, dancing, sitting etc 🙂

There’s a thread, somewhere, about peeing the opposite way around (facing the wall) in your wedding dress. The point is the part you can’t see or hold (the back) can’t get in the bowl, but goes on the floor (which is hopefully clean). Practise beforehand: you need to unhook your panties from one leg to get in position.
I didn’t have to pee on my wedding day, but I’m sure most people do lol… As for sitting, I pulled up where the skirt started and was able to bend better, otherwise i was awkwardly leaning back.. Dancing wasn’t a huge issue for me either, but we also didn’t have crazy dancing and I wasn’t getting low or anything.
My second (reception) wedding dress was a mermaid. It was so figure flattering but so tight and it pushed my boobs up like crazy. Tip #1 check your boobs occasionally you don’t want to look like a hoochie in pictures if they pop-up more then is appropriate. Tip #2, when I peed I stepped out of my dress (with help from bridal attendant) and the dress stayed standing upright because the corset was so tight at the bodice and the mermaid flowy body held it up. When I finished peeing I stepped right back into it( this was at the very end of the night though. The back of my dress had a shitload of buuttons though so if that’s the case with yours maybe there’s a different bathroom routine option.
Peeing: tried so hard to hitch it up but in the end the only way I could pee was to get out of my dress completely which was fine as it was just a zipper, but don’t think this would work with a corset. It’s not so bad though, just always bring someone with you to the loo to zip you back up.
Dancing: I did have a bustle added but never used it. Instead I ended up grabbing the side of my skirt and lifting it up as my legs got BOILING! Something I hadn’t anticipated. A bit like this anyway:
Sitting: no problem here, but sort of hitch it up a bit slightly before touching down? I think it may depend on how much give the material of your dress has?
Pee before getting in your dress. A few ladies mentioned getting out of their dress to pee, I had a corset dress so that was out of the question, luckily I went before I put it on and didn’t have to go until I got out of it at the end of the night.
Sitting, pull up a bit at the top of the legs and you’ll be able to sit a bit easier. I also agree with the boob checks throughout the evening, mermaids give quite the push up.
My dress has buttons up the back :p And when I drink I have to pee every 15 min so we shall see how this is going to go. hahahaha
Getting married in two days in a fit and flare! I read somewhere that a good idea is to put baby powder between your thighs because it can get hot in your dress and the baby powder helps with your thighs rubbing together. Can anyone verify? Didn’t have time to get baby powder, but I’m surrounded by women with babies so I don’t think getting some would be an issue.Â
It looks like yours has a tulle skirt, so my tip is to hold it out a bit in photos (or at least some of them). My photographer suggested I did this and I thought it would look wierd but actually it makes the dress look really great.
I wriggled mine upwards ok to go to the toilet, it wasn’t that bad, considering that the dress was very tight. It took up a lot of space though, so I really needed to have someone guarding the door to the restrooms so I could have the individual cubicle door open.
