Tips for dealing with anxiety without medication (long)

futuremrss17 :  I have had a lot of help using the meditation apps. There are a lot of good books out there on cognitive behavioral therapy which a PP posted about. I’ve also had help with therapists and medication. I take an anti-depressant. I tried going off of it, but found that the anxiety came back severely. It really helps shut off a lot of my anxiety–which can get quite crippling for me. There are some activities that I do that really help my anxiety–exercise, gardening, coloring.

lulubelle2017 :  says who? It obviously works for PP. Don’t make wide assumptions that it can’t be a long-term solution for anyone.

lulubelle2017 :  It may not have worked for you, but it certainly doesn’t increase anxiety for everyone. Where are you getting this information? It really helped me so I thought it could possibly help the OP.

spilledmilk :  Yep, thanks. Many people use marijuana medicinally, and despite the judgement/stigma/ignorance other people have about it, it does work very well for them (and it did for me).

MrsAKSkier :  I guess I hit a nerve for some people! THC can increase anxiety, depression, and psychosis in some people. I hate to see people recommending it to others, because I see how it negatively affects some. I have seen studies to back up my experience. I work in psych.

MrsAKSkier :  I don’t have judgement/ignorance/stigma about marijuana. I have used it in the past along with my peers. My mom has used it her whole life and so did all of her friends. I don’t judge others for using it. I just don’t think it should be recommended as a treatment for anxiety.
