Atlantis is amazing but super expensive…but if you can afford it, why not? We are having our destination wedding in Hawaii. We bought a wedding package at the resort, and that seem to cut down costs had we done everything a la carte. I would say, to cut down the cost and anxiety of planning a wedding, don’t be super picky and just buy a package. It saves much time and energy, makes it easy and really lets you enjoy being in a fantastic destination with your closest loved ones.

we had to find our own photographer, i am getting my hair done but doing my own make up. To cut the cost and headache of having a florist, i bought my real touch silk flower bouquet and boutonniere and making my bridesmaids bouquets and groomsman boutonnieres with real touch and shipping to an UPS there. A cake came with our wedding package, we are dining at a nice restaurant after for reception and I couldn’t be happier that it’s all pretty much taken care of. My mom is making pomander balls for the aisle at the ceremony that we are shipping to a UPS store there for pickup.

future congrats and happy planning!

If you are looking to keep your wedding inexpensive, Mexico is the way to go.  My husband and I got married in Rivieria Maya, at The Azul Fives.  It was an unbelievable experience.  Azul Fives is a boutique hotel that will pamper you and your guests for your stay.  We booked our wedding by using Destinationweddings and they were able to get us the best rates possible.  If you are looking for luxury without the cost, look at Mexico and Destinationweddings.

Hi Rose,

I agree with the other two post’s! Not only would Atantis be expensive for you & your husband but for all of your friends and family as well. I had a hard enough time getting 50 people to come to Mexico where everything is inexpensive. But, I would suggest that you join a wedding planning website for destination weddings – like destionationweddings.com! I used them to plan my Destination Wedding last September and it was one of the best decisions I ever made! Our online wedding specialist helped us choose a great resort and locked down a lower rate for all our friends and family staying at the resort! If you are still contemplating, check out their website. You have to pay $50 to join but you get months worth of less stressful planning!!

I love Atlantis!  As everyone said, it can be expensive though.  If you have your heart set on Atlantis (or anywhere expensive), I would look at when they have cheaper rates and get married during those times.  I do not recommend getting married during hurricane season, but I think Atlantis drops rates for the summer starting in May, and May is not hurricane season.  I actually have been to Atlantis for vaction and went in May because they had cheaper rates then.

I also chose to get married in May in Grand Cayman because the rates dropped the last week in April (or the week before we got married).  Good luck!

The Atlantis is AMAZING!  Your wedding would be a dream!  Destination weddings are totally the way to go!  The only downside of course is that they are super expensive but if you can afford it then go for it!  You may get a good price on it if you work through http://www.destinationweddings.com.  They tend to do alot of weddings and have really good relationships with many popular resorts.  So they may be able to get you a competitive price as well as some additional upgrades and perks based on their reputation and amazing relationships.  They do a tonne of weddings so the resorts LOVE working with them and it pays for you to take advantage of that for sure!.  Not to mention the fact that their service is top notch for you and your guests.  Because the Atlantis is expected to be pricey, their payment plan option will probably be very appealing to your guests.  Guests can put ina reasonable deposit and pay as they go after that, as much as they can afford throughout the coutdown to the trip.  I believe they are only company that has this service available, and it works well for the guests who are intimidated by large bulk payments on deadlines.  Check them out online and make sure to take a good look at all they offer, you won’t be disappointed.  Good luck and happy planning!
