I finally found my dream dress, but it has a zipper closure and I always wanted a corset. There is too much detail on the back of my dress to turn it into a corset, it could be done, but would really lose a lot of details on the back so I think I’m going to leave it as it is
Anyway, I’ve heard stories of the zipper breaking or getting stuck – as zippers do – on the wedding day
Anyone have any zipper tips or tricks?

if you have a good quality dress wtih a good quality zipper you shouldn’t have too much of a problem with it (A lot of really high quality designers put cheap plastic zippers in thier dresses though becuase they realize it is only going to be worn once or twice.
also, as with all zippers, if it is too tight fix it. Many dresses that bust zippers are becuase girls were trying to have the dress compress them and all of that compression was pulling the zipper appart. If it is even a little bit tight wear spanks or a compression corsett under.

No tips or tricks but my zipper totally got stuck on wedding day, no problems with it the entire alteration process… but as my mom was trying to zip it up it got stuck around the waist seam! It took what felt like 15 minutes to actually get it up.
My only suggestion is if it gets stuck to take your time and sometimes you do need to give it a good tug.

It really shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re really worried, have high quality thread that matches your dress on hand, and a few needles. Someone can sew you into the dress if the zipper breaks.

I’ve never heard of people having problems with their zippers. I don’t have any advice but want to assure you that I had a zipper dress, (with an inner corset and buttons over the zipper), and had absolutely no problems.
