- Wedding: September 2011
I’m stuck on figuring out who I need to tip. The wedding is next week.
Hair/Makeup- they automatically charge 20% for a gratuity
Ceremony Musician- she owns her own business (friend, old coworker)
DJ/MC- he owns his own business
Venue- they charge a 17% gratuity that we have already paid
Photographer- he owns his own business (friend from college)
Videographers- we will have three people filming. they are part of a media company that they run together (friends of my fiance- they are giving us a massive deal and using it to help build their wedding video portfolio, try some new things out).
From what I understand, you don’t need to tip if they own their own company, and I think we might be OK without tipping, but I don’t want to insult anybody. We are on a tight budget and most of the vendors qualify as business owners (not sure about the video people since it’s 3 of them) and all but one of the vendors are people we have a personal relationship with (not doing the work as a gift, but giving us a good deal).
Would a thank you card be appropriate. A small tip, like $50 for each? Or do we need to tip 20% like in a restaurant.
I appreciate the advice.
OOPS- did not mean to post this under dress! Can we move it to the approprate category?
