What’s the focus? Decorating? Cooking? Travel? Health?

Don’t forget pinterest and Instagram. Instagram is the largest growing social media right now, it’s important to growing any online following.

catpeaches:  I am in the same situation. I started a blog in July and I have found that posting comments on other blogs (and linking yours) really helps. Also, try guest posting. So pitch an idea to an established blog and see if they will publish.

catpeaches:  there is a share your blog thread every month. It stays up for about two weekish but you can bump November’s by adding yours. You can find it though the search.

20 somethings are the largest users of Instagram and are very visual. Make sure you posts have lots of interesting photos. Even some short Instagram videos will help. Make sure you’re using effective and simple hashtags. Getting over complicated with the hashtags will mean less people will find your posts. Also make a unique to your blog hashtag, making it easier for people who already know you to find your posts.

Cross blogging or featured blogger is a great way to be seen (as the pp mentionsed). Be careful posting links to comment areas, that’s kind of a blog etiquette thing, make sure you have permission to do that or that it is common with that blogs community.

Have a giveaway. You can start small, maybe a broach you found at an antique store, tie it in to a post, say about broach bouquets or broaches on belts. Later when you have a following, you can contact vendors to work with you and supply giveaways. Post that giveaway on all the social media outlets you can.

Don’t forget more mainstream Web sites. Buzzfeed is a good one for wedding stuff. They have a few writers that only post about wedding stuff. Find out who they are and link them to your posts. It also doesn’t hurt to submit a blog post that they can print on their sites. Buzzfeed does a lot of the “feature bloggers” type stuff and they’ll credit you and your blog. There are others like buzzfeed but that’s the biggest one I can think of, oh, huff post does some of that but you’d need a good following before submitting.

catpeaches:  Yes, as PP said, it appears monthly. I usually stick to blogs that allow for “comment luv” which means it will automatically link your most recent post. So it isn’t against blogger etiquette when you do that.

I can PM you my blog, it’s personal finance related.

  • Facebook link or Facebook Fan page? Check your insights and see age/gender and location and see if that helps
  • Contests! These are great for growing blogs and social media followers
  • relevant hashtags – I do not use Twitter (yet) but on Instagram I can’t believe the followers I get without even really trying, it’s just my individual instagram. People really do search # and follow those they like.
