A recent fear I’m having is that I’m going to look like a child bride. I always feel like people think I’m 16 and should be in class but I’m a grad student. I’ve never gotten comments like that it’s just my own self consciousness. It’s probably because I rarely wear much make up. Any tips to look not so young on my wedding day in 12 days?? I’m hoping make up will help but I didn’t have a trial. Here’s my most recent pics

I don’t think you will look like a child bride. If I had to guess, I’d guess around 24 – 26.
You will be a beautiful bride. Don’t even worry about it!! 🙂

How are you doing your hair? IMO hair up can make you look a little more sophisticated while hair down can make you look more youthful.
Just make sure they don’t go too heavy on the makeup in an attempt to look “older” or you might look like a little girl trying on mom’s makeup 😉
I think dramatic eyemakeup with subdued lips would help you look more your age!
(P.S. I hope you didn’t find any of this insulting, I think you are a lovely girl but just trying to throw out some tips!)

Hmmm id agree with the pp! You definitely don’t look like a child bride or look sixteen 🙂 you are going to be one beautiful bride x

Aw thank you guys! I just turned 21 so that makes me feel a little better lol I’m having a make up artist do my make up so hopefully she’ll know what to do.
Definitely not insulted, thank you! I was planning hair down or half up/down for the ceremony and then up for the reception but I haven’t even really looked yet! lol I should probably do that. Thanks for the suggestions

I have the EXACT same problem. I just turned 20 but still look about 14/15! I got the most dirty look from a woman checking my ID the other day because she probably thought it was fake or something! OH used to get the same thing until he grew a beard.
But hey, it won’t be so bad when you are 40 being mistaken for a 30 year old!

I think dress choice goes a long way. Opt for something sophisticated opposed to youthful 🙂 It will make you feel the part too 🙂

I have a similar issue. My plan: find a pic of myself where I look both pretty AND my own age and bring it in to my makeup artist to see if we can’t re-create the magic. I’m sure the sophisticated dress and fancy hairstyle will do wonders, too.

I don’t think you look TOO young. You look youthful, but not like a child. However, some tips that may help to appear more “mature”, if you will, is to have defined brows, light eye makeup with a lot of eyelash focus, and perhaps a sophisicated lip color such as a classic red or maybe a wine. I love the way Hilary Duff does a bold lip and you two have similar coloring if you’re looking for inspiration.

I don’t think you’re going to look like a child bride, so I wouldn’t worry about that 🙂 I’m sure you’re going to look lovely on the day. I have to say I really like the picture of Hilary Duff wearing red lipstick that a PP posted.

Someone wished me a happy sweet 16 on my 21st birthday… I feel you so much! I actually got my hair cut to a pixie and people actually think I’m an adult now!! Makeup and clothing choice can help to. I tend to have people think I’m older when I’m a bit more modestly dressed than in like “club clothes” but from your pics you dress kinda similar to me so I guess that doesn’t help much

I get this on a daily basis pretty much, I’m 22 but am told I look 14. Try and tell your hair and makeup artists to give you a more sophisticated look.

Ugh I feel your pain. Anytime I tell someone I’m engaged or in graduate school they look at me like I’m nuts and ask how old I am followed by a “wow, you look much younger!!” thanks 😐

I am going to be 35 in Oct and I can pass for 20! I get I.D all the time and I don’t mind it now as I am getting older but I didn’t like it when I was your age, so I feel your pain. I am sure with your wedding dress on, hair done and make up you will look your age.

I don’t think you look extra young at all. I’m the same age as you and no one ever believes my age so I get it.
