Alright, let’s try this again…my first post was labeled as spam
So obviously there’s a bit of a story that goes along with this. I recently was given a bonus for making it to the top 5 position in my company and was in the mood to celebrate. My husband and I got a babysitter and went out for a nice romantic meal before coming home and popping some champagne. On a regular weekend we’re just your average suburban parents in our 30’s, our wild party days are long gone lol. So suffice it to say, I am a total lightweight now!
Well….in the name of celebration, I had a few glasses of champagne and was feeling both giddy and in a bit of a “treat yo self” mood. While I should have been sleeping, I was actually online shopping on my phone and looking at jewelry (dangerous). My inhibitions were clearly lowered because I ended up purchasing a ring online that sober me would never have gone for. The next morning I had major buyer’s remorse and was putting a huge guilt trip on myself for being so impulsive. As it was too late to cancel the order (I tried) I spent the next few days waiting for it to arrive so I could promptly return it….until I saw it in real life and was so surprised to find myself loving it.
It’s a fancy yellow quad diamond halo with an airline (which normally aren’t really my thing at all), but it is beautiful and sparkly and I’m shocked to find myself loving the way it looks on my finger.
I had read a few negative comments about quads and airline halos here on The Bee, and maybe I let that influence me a bit more than I should have. Clearly tipsy me thought they were worthy of a chance, and I have to say that I am more than pleasantly surprised. I guess if anything, I’ve definitely learned that I shouldn’t shop and drink, but also that you truly can’t always tell whether you’ll like something before trying it on in real life.
So here’s my new right hand ring, glad to have something totally different to add to the mix:

It’s lovely! I don’t think it matters a hoot what others might think! We all “love what we love” and it’s very personal! Laughing about the drunk shopping…there are worse things! Enjoy!

It’s gorgeous! I actually like the airline on a halo, it gives the center stone a more regal “I’m here” appearance….IMO. Congrats on your amazing accomplishment and on your new ring!

I LOVE your ring!!! I drunk-shopped once and bought a Maltese puppy online from a local known puppy mill. He was labeled as a “bargain Basement” puppy and drunk me freaked out at what was going to happen to him. I struggled with the idea of supporting this establishment but his little face looked so sad. I paid by credit card and drove out to get him the next day 🙂 He is neurotic, mean to everyone except me, hubby and my mom but I love him and dont regret my drunk purchase. Seems to me, like your ring, drunk purchases are the best!!

Looks lovely on your hand. We love what we love and anyone else’s opinion is superfluous.
Congrats on your work success By The Way. Your ring will remind you of doing well in your job and rewarding yourself for that achievement.
Armed with the knowledge that champagne+computer= impulsive purchase, it may be best to hit the hay rather than hitting the online shops the next time you overindulge!

Upon initially reading your post, which made me LOL by the way 😂 I wasn’t expecting to like your ring. However, I think it’s lovely! It has such a unique, vintage vibe. The drunk shopper in you did good! Congrats on your work accolades!!

This is gorgeous! I am a sucker for antique/vintage style jewelry. I love the milgrain detailing and filigree on the side. It looks very much like the rings from the early 1910-1920’s.

DearDani : Thank you!! I think that’s what drew me in too, kind of an art deco-y feel!
