I thought all the hysteria over the Dominican candy and carnavale dancers was very contrived.  For heavens sake, there is a large Dominican community in NYC and north Jersey.  Call the consulate for help with candy and dancers.  Why would anyone run around from candy store to candy store?  That’s why we developed the telephone and the internet!  Let’s see some common sense in this type of programming!

I tivoed it, but did see it.  I agreed with Linda1205–the whole drama about finding the dancers and candy seemed a little contrived to me.  I have a hard time believing that if these two things were so imprortant to that bride that she would have waited until a couple of days before to mention them to the reception venue/planners. I felt like it must have been staged that way for the show, to make it more interesting.

I did think it must have been a lot of work to have two weddings on the same night.  I know our venue does that too–we actually knew the other people who had their reception down the hall from us.

They have a new episode on August 18th. I saw the Dominican candy and dancers one. I think it was a bit acted out what with finding two major things for the reception last minute but overall, it’s fun to watch!

You know, D. Marie, I watched part of this week’s episode.  I kept thinking if the staff actually normally did all this stuff for every couple.  Honestly, it felt like it was all pretty staged.  I know our venue wouldn’t have set up a photo shoot for us or hired a mural painter.  I felt like a lot of this was just set up for the show–ESPECIALLY how “last minute” everything seemed.

The show is great because I think it allows the viewers to see wedding preparations from the other point of view.  I do have issues with some of the “problems” they encounter.  For example, did anyone see the father-bride dance music issue?  (Again I won’t go into details so as to not spoil it for others).  I saw this and shook my head because I know it’s a problem that could have been avoided all together.

I wonder how of the preparations the couple is actually involved with.  To me it seems as though the venue arranges for everything…did you see the lady on the phone with the decorators?

I missed the first episode, but I saw the one on the 18th, and now I’m going to be hooked to yet another show. Is it sad that I cry when I see wedding related things like that?!?!?!

The show made me realize that I never want to be a wedding coordinator…haha.  Talk about stress.  I still like the show “Platinum Weddings” more.  Makes me dream of a wedding I wish I could have.

I really don’t think the staff does this kind of thing for every couple. Like the cat photo shoot? Give me a break. Why would your catering hall do that?! I do like this show and it’s one of the few wedding related shows I’m still watching. I gave up on most of them as I progressed through my planning.

@budgetbeautiful~The question shouldn’t be why would your catering hall do it, it should be why in the world would ANYBODY do it. It was soo weird.

The cat photo shoot was ridiculous!
