Okay now first off I’m soooo excited to say that we have started TTC tonight!!!!! Needless to say that tonight was also the first time that Darling Husband squirted his baby making juices into me (he’s always pulled out as I’ve never been on BC) …
So my question is this – I’ve heard it’s best to wait after BD so the sperm can remain to find the egg so II’ve been laying down for a while. Is there a time limit? Should I pee to avoid a UTI? Does peeing reduce the chances of falling pregnant? I’m clueless
Thank you in advance bees x

The effectiveness of laying down is closer to an old wives tale than a scientific method. There are plenty of ladies on here who had no problem getting pregnant without waiting/ laying flat for a while. However, the “experts” say that it doesn’t hurt to lay down for 10 minutes after just as an extra boost. Wait too much longer and there’s no point and you are entering UTI danger zone.
Personally, I lay down afterwards because I’ll take any bit of help or magic possible!

Up to 10 minutes, but it’s not necessarily going to help. Also as PP said, too much longer and you’re risking a UTI. I can’t remember if I laid down for 10 after this time, I don’t think I did though. What I found for us was to make sure that Darling Husband had a good build up, don’t have sex every day, try every other. Too Much Information but he was masturbating some days so that he would last longer when we did have sex, which depleted his reserves. I didn’t realize he was doing this and he never made the connection that it was a problem, once he finally did and stopped doing it, we got pregnant. Magical lol.

It’s best if you lie down for a little bit just to give your DH’s soldiers a chance to swim to their intended target. We usually say no more than 30 minutes.
Try not to have sex every day, every other day is best as PP said to give time to replenish his reserves.
If you can, try and track your ovulation as best you can so you can try and be more precise.
Lol, I feel like I’m at work right now while typing this. I’m currently on mat leave that’s ending in a month so this is good practice for me I guess.

littleG: You need to pee after sex to avoid a UTI- yes. And you will still get pregnant. I pee after sex- and my husband was pulling out and I got pregnant!

I have always gotten up right after to pee and wash up. and yes, I got pregnant. Honestly, once they are in there, they are in there. I’m also on the “it’s a wives tale” team. It’s not like the sperm are slowly climbing through you. lol. <br />but, as others have said, I wouldn’t lay more than 10 minutes. I HATE when he wants to cuddle and it starts leaking out everywhere.

Sperm can actually stay in you for days….
we were on the pill and I always jumped up to clean and pee after.
And I’m due in Dec 😉 x
