To me that’s weird; my doctor did nick my cervix once during a pap, which resulted in light spotting for a couple of hours, but that was it.

When I had my first one, which was coming up to two years ago (I kept putting it off :/) she said due to being on birth control, you will generally have a bit of bleeding. I can’t remember how she worded it. But I was spotting for at least a day.

It’s not uncommon for a Pap to cause some bleeding from the cervix….it ususally starts bright red and will taper off to brownish over a day or 2 (or 3 in this case, possibly).  Since a Pap doesn’t go past the outside of the cervix, it has no effect on the uterus or uterine lining and so any bleeding isn’t from there.

This is super common. When I had my pap I had bleeding and spotting, and then got my friend a week early as well. My GYN says i am very hormone (estrogen) sensitive and this is why this happened-my period is now due to arrive on the 13-15 instead of the usual 20-25, which made us change our honeymoon travel dates. 🙂
