annonybee :  I’ll get Too Much Information with you! is the discomfort on your inner vaginal lips, or more the outter parts? How do you feel when you aren’t wearing underwear? Would you say the discomfort is an ache, or more of an irritated or raw skin feel? Have you recently changed laundry detergents? Have you had sex or used tampons recently, and if so, how did it feel?

I hate underwear. I never wear it unless I have my period. I also don’t wear a bra. Just dont wear underwear. If that’s not an option, time to go shopping for some new ones in a different material.

I’ve had this problem since I was about 13/14 and I’m 29 now, I can’t sleep with anything on my bottom half because of it. I hate wearing underwear but have to, I’ve tried so many different types of underwear, laundry detergent, shower gels, feminine hygiene products etc and nothing helps. I personally think I have dermatitis because I get very very irritated with sanitary towels to point where I scratch until I bleed and my skin peels off (sorry TMI). I don’t know what the answer is but you have my sympathies.

Have you done anything different? Shaved with a new razor or different soap? Bought new underwear?

Its possible that your underwear might be too tight. Maybe it shrunk in the laundry?

Try a new undie shape?

Maybe boxers?? Or spanx? They don’t cup the little vaj part, so it’s kinda like just wearing pants under your pants/skirt/whatever instead of having underwear on.

Are you a cyclist by any chance? Do you spin? Do you ride a tractor regularly? Weird questions, but if you do anything that regularly puts pressure on your sitz bones, you might have pudendal nerve entrapment. It’s a nerve that extends from your butt to the front of your pelvis and all over the labia. If it gets irritated, it can cause feelings of discomfort that pretty much run the gamut (anything from itching, numbness, burning, stabbing pain, feeling “dry”, or just really sensitive, like every sensation down there is amplified—nerves are weird).

Have you tried using a liner? I usually feel a bit uncomfortable being in contact with underwear directly esp being that the top bit / seam part of the crotch area seem to rub. Wearing a liner that cover the seam area helps me.

I have dealt with this too! The only underwear that I liked was a Hanes looser waist silk brief that I cannot find again.   I think it’s when underwear is so tight, it irritates my skin.  I don’t get rashes but it’s so uncomfortable.

I have never had it in that area but it sounds similar to what I’ve always called sensory overload. I have had it on my upper arm, stomach and thigh. It always eventually goes away. It’s fine as long as nothing is touching it. It’s like the nerve endings there are ultra sensitive.

I’ve read it could be a beginning sign of shingles.. but that’s never happened
