@MrsPanda99:  Try biotic silver.  Dip a tampon in biotic silver (which can be expensive- but it has a lot of uses, so it’s worth it)-

I don’t have this problem, but I have read that it works, and we use biotic silver for other things 🙂

@MrsPanda99:  All of the suggestions for preventing an infection are great and I don’t really have any other suggestions. But, if you find yourself with a yeast infection, I’ve read you can take the peel off a clove of garlic, put it in a piece of cheesecloth, and stick it up your yoo-hoo before you go to bed. Remove in the morning. I know it sounds disgusting but it’s apparently supposed to kill the yeast/bacteria.

@MrsPanda99:  douching is awful, and removes all of the natural good bacteria as well. Also please never ever use soap on your vagina, all you need to wash with is warm water, your vagina is slef cleaning, and soap will upset the PH balance wich can cause yeast infections. I have chronic problems with my “lady buisness” and have delt with uterine infections, UTI”s and yeast  infections. what I have found works the best for me is to take a probiotic every day, I take acidophillus in a pill form and it works wonders. Also you might want to try changing your diet, try the candida diet for awhile ( it basically cuts out all sugars and yeast which candida thrives on) I find when I cut out all sugar from my diet it helps clear things up!

@MrsPanda99:  I’m kind of confused where some of the bee’s got their information from… but I digress…

I’ve had this problem since I was 2. Really for over 20 years now, I’ve struggled. It’s a bitch to deal with and even more embarassing to talk about.

One thing, as many other PP’s stated. Please don’t douche. Secondly, I’m not sure of your preference but completely shaving actually keeps your vagina more exposed to bacteria which can then cause the yeast infection. (Plus, if you think about it, putting tons of scented shaving gel down there to shave isn’t that great for the lady bits)

What works for me isn’t going to work for everyone else, but here is what has proven to work for me.

1. Underware is key. Cotton all the way! If I wear underware in the morning to work and don’t need to shower that day, at night or when I get home I’ll put on a new pair. It’s more laundry, but it helps keep things dry.

2. Yogurt, Like many pp’s stated! You could try eating less bread, but honestly… unless you are eating a lot, and drinking a lot of beer/alcohol. You should be fine.

3. I use summer’s eve sensitive feminine wash in the shower. I have incredibly sensitive skin and even more sensitive lady bits. I’m even allergic to ivory soap. The stuff works for me. I also make sure I have a really clean towel and dry off completely when I get out of the shower.

4. I don’t use baby wipes when I use the bathroom. Mostly because that will make things wetter… Also,  be aware some of them have perfumes that can disturb the natural chemistry. So I would recommend if you go that route to get either summers eve wipes or bathroom wipes (which are usually cheaper!) that are meant to be flushed.

5. I used to get them after having sex as well. Especially if it was more than one time per day. I just use a washcloth that is 1/2 wet and 1/2 dry. No soap. That usually works great for me.

6. If I “feel” one coming on. As in, the next day I will probabably have a full-on yeast infection… I already have the cream that you rub while you also use the medicine on the outside opening and go to bed. I think there are some “7 day” treatments that are just the cream and come with a HUGE tube of the stuff. Plus it’s cheap because who wants to have a yeast infection for 7 days!!?! Honestly, this is the most important tip IMO…. I’ve had them so much that they are really easy to detect!

Also side note, I went to various doctors about this throughout my life. One told my mom to stop giving me baths. Which worked great. The other just told her that some girls/women have “extra moist” vaginas that breed it. Now, I don’t know about “extra moist”… but that’s just what they said.

I hope this helps you in some way!

Boric Acid!! You can get it over the counter at a pharmacy, but they will probably have to order it special for you.  Then get those gel caps from Whole food and fill them with the powder and just stick it up there until the infections clear up.  Then once a week, then taper off until you don’t get the infections anymore at all.

I used to have TERRIBLE chronic problems with this and this was the only thing that worked.

I haven’t read the posts, but has anyone discussed bubble bath? If you use it, stop using it. I have ONE bubble bath and that’s it for me down there. Sad life with no bubble baths!!

MY HISTORY: BV/Yeast infections while on BC Pill for years. ANY sort of infection whether vaginal, UTI, skin, teeth, colds/flus and acne all worse when on high sugar/high carb/high wheat diet.

Recently: New boyfriend has a lot semen when he ejaculates. Has caused new BV and yeast, havent had these in several years until now! So I do this and it works great.

My shopping list: Reusable douche, boric acid powder and empty gel capsules (OR already made Yeast Away suppositories, I didn’t like Yeast Arrest btw), probiotic pills.

Prevention:

1. After ejaculatory sex, douche with a homemade solution of Boric Acid powder mixed with hot water. It cleans out the alkaline sperm that also feed the yeast/bacteria, it also rinses the vagina with an acid solution.

2. Take a good probiotic every day.

Treatment:

1. Rinse with boric acid douche to get nasty yeast/bacteria discharge out.

2. Insert homemade boric acid powder/oil mixture capsules (coconut, or whatever you have) OR insert something like Yeast Away already made boric acid suppositories.

3. Insert a good probiotic pill (I love Garden of Life Vaginal Care.)

@MrsPanda99:  I used to have this problem really badly, and still occasionally do. To top it off, I’m allergic to Monistat. Yep, there’s no way for me to even treat it. The only thing that works to treat it for me is to soak a tampon in cocnut oil and insert it. It’s not a huge issue for me anymore, and I think it’s mostly because I’ve changed my diet. I have low blood sugar, which I figured out because I was experiencing these things:

*extreme hanger (hangry = hungry+angry)

*lots of nightmares, and waking up feeling shaky

*feeling dizzy/shaky after not eating for a while

I saw a nutriitonist about it, and she told me that you should never eat sugar or carbs without fat or protien to balance it. I have a huge sweet tooth, and I used to always eat a ton of sugar before going to bed, then wake up screaming, etc. in the night. Once I quit doing that, the nightmares stopped, but if I drink alcohol or eat a bunch of sugar before bed, I have nightmares. I really try to avoid drinking and eating sugar in the same night. It’s a recipe for disaster. If I do drink of eat sugar, I try to drink a glass of whole milk before I go to sleep.

Anyway, keeping my blood sugar more constant by avoiding simple carbs and sugar (I still eat them sometmes, but just make sure to include fat or protien) has also helped my yeast infections, my mood, and hepled me to not feel starving all of the time. I really think the blood sugar fluctiations were making the yeast problem worse.

Also, you should definitely wash right after sex everytime, skip thongs if you’re having problems, and don’t have sex while you have an infection.
